we get this posted on here please!

Posted by Rick Anstis from SARG through his mailing list.

'I am sure that many of you will share fond and happy
memories of Julia Wycherley, founder (some thirty years
ago) and recently Honorary President, of Surrey Amphibian
and Reptile Group (?SARG?).

I am sorry therefore to be the bearer of very sad news:-

Julia passed away, peacefully, on 9th September.

The funeral is to be held at Crawley Crematorium on
Friday 18th September, at 3:00 p.m. and Ralph and the
family would be very pleased to see you there.

No flowers please; instead, donations to the
Herpetological Conservation Trust (?HCT?, now ?ARC?
??
??
??
??
??
??
??)
would be very welcome, either at:
http://www.herpconstrust.org.uk/donate.htm

or online at:

Homepage/SARG2donations.shtml

or via Stoneman Funeral Directors.

Richard Anstis'

I hope that Rick and Julia's family would not mind me
posting this on here.

I truly feel that we have lost such a wonderfully
passionate and brilliant flag bearer for UK amphibian and
reptile conservation. She was always on the end of a
phone for a chat about the latest sightings of European
Green Frogs, or for advice on various matters relating to
helping amphibians and reptiles

I am planning to go to the Funeral if anyone would like a
lift do let me know

This is what Kevin Morgan had to say about Julia in his
email to me early last week

'I will miss her, she so summed up the right way to
pursue conservation goals with her approach to everyone,
from conservationists to developers.

Also makes you appreciate life and in your case, your new
arrival .... future generations to strive for the
environment.

Kevin'

Thankyou for sharing this with us Jon

Julia has certainly been a shining and leading light in herp conservation. I am one of many who has benefited from her knowledge and the readiness and enthusiasm with which she shared it.

All of us who knew her will miss her.

Oh, this is a surprise and shock, I knew Julia fairly well.

My thoughts are with her loved ones.

Though I did not know her I would like to express my sympathies to her family and friends.

Anyone who can spend time in conservation work is special in my eyes.
